Our portfolio valuation tool allows you to take track of your portfolio daily and includes all asset types from stocks to mutual funds to real estate. We allow you to upload your portfolio in a number of ways. You can copy and paste from a spreadsheet, drag a portfolio into the portfolio screen or upload from your computer. Among our filtering tools we include a slider filter on the market value column so you can focus on investments that exceed a specified value.
Also, our portfolio valuation tool works in conjunction with our mutual fund tool so that for any mutual fund or ETF you analyze in the mutual fund tool we will automatically connect the results in the portfolio tool and similarly we will highlight your owned funds in the mutual fund tool.
The Summary tab summarizes your portfolio along several dimensions including Investment Type (EG stocks v bonds), Account Type (Brokerage v. 401K) and Institution (EG Citibank, Robinhood, etc).
Portfolio valuation is the process of determining the current value of the investments held in a portfolio, across whichever mix of stocks, mutual funds, real estate, and other assets you hold. It helps you see what your holdings are worth today rather than relying on what you originally paid for them.
You upload your holdings — by pasting from a spreadsheet, dragging in a file, or uploading directly — and the tool combines each position's market value into an overall total. The Summary view then breaks that total down by investment type, account type, and institution, so you can see how the pieces add up.
A portfolio's value moves with the market prices of the assets it holds and the quantity held of each position. Income like dividends or interest, along with buying, selling, or reallocating between asset types, also changes the total value over time.
Knowing your portfolio's current value helps you understand your actual financial position rather than relying on outdated purchase prices. It also makes it easier to see how each holding contributes to the whole and to decide whether adjustments are needed.
Portfolio Valuation works alongside the Mutual Fund & ETF Tool, which automatically highlights funds you hold and connects its analysis back into your portfolio. The Portfolio Allocation and Bond Calculator tools can help with the asset-mix and fixed-income side of the picture.
