In our budget calculator, you first input your basic budget amount for each category you then click calculate. After you input your budget items and click calculate. The output produces a pie chart showing you how much you spend in category. In addition, we show your total expenses and a budget to income ratio as well as a traffic light indicator showing – green, yellow red. The traffic light, which is a common feature of our calculators indicates whether you are in safe zone (Green), warning (Yellow) and Red (danger).
The income will be downloaded from your settings page if you saved it there, otherwise you need to enter it. Further we allow you to save up to 3 budgets. These can be for other members of your household or family, or can be several scenarios for yourself.
The update button allows you to update a saved budget and the Click Me/Reload button loads the data from your latest saved portfolio.
The Budget Calculator lets you set a budget amount for each spending category and see how that plan compares to your income. It's a planning tool — you enter targets rather than actual transactions — which is what distinguishes it from Budget Analysis, its transaction-based companion.
You enter a budget amount for each category and click calculate. The tool then shows a pie chart of your planned spending by category, your total budgeted expenses, and a budget-to-income ratio, along with a green/yellow/red traffic-light indicator showing whether your plan is in a safe, warning, or risky zone.
Yes, you can save up to 3 budgets at once — useful for different members of a household or family, or for comparing a few spending scenarios for yourself. Saved budgets can be reloaded and updated later using the update and reload options.
It's for anyone who wants to plan a budget before spending happens, rather than reviewing transactions after the fact. If your income is already saved in your account settings, it loads automatically so you can focus on setting category targets.
Budget Analysis is the transaction-based companion to this tool — upload real bank or credit card statements to see how actual spending compares to a plan. The Recurring Expense Calculator and Tax Estimator can help round out the rest of a personal finance plan.
